Claudia Coenen

Claudia Coenen was widowed suddenly in the middle of her marriage, left with three teenagers to continue to raise. A lifelong dancer, musician, caterer, writer and teacher, she used creative expression to work through her grief. Moving, writing, drawing, singing and expressive arts helped her discover the gifts in her marriage and awakened a desire to help widows and other bereaved people. Claudia has a Masters in Transpersonal Psychology, an Advanced Grief Counseling certificate and is nationally certified in Thanatology. She has helped hundreds of people of all ages with their own grief, including dying patients, their families, hospice nurses and support staff, cancer patients as well as people coping with divorce and other life transitions. In addition to a private grief counseling practice, Claudia is a consultant at the REACH center, a crime victim and trauma survivors counseling center in Hudson, NY. Her book, Shattering Grief: Picking up the pieces to become W.H.O.L.E. again will be published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in the fall of 2017. In addition, The Karuna Cards, a set of creative prompts for grief and difficult life transitions will also be published by Jessica Kingsley in the late summer of 2017.
