Dr. Gloria and Dr. Heidi Horsley
Dr. Gloria Horsley and Dr. Heidi Horsley are a mother/daughter team and internationally recognized grief experts. They are the founders of The Open to Hope Foundation and the hosts of The Open to Hope Show. In addition, Dr. Gloria is a board member for The Compassionate Friends and Dr. Heidi is an adjunct professor at Columbia University and has a private practice in manhattan. Their message is that others have made it through the grief journey and so can you, if you do not yet have hope lean on theirs.
I lost my husband in October 2013. I don’t feel much better three years later. I have one daughter, who is wonderful, but she is grieving, too. She lost her dad and step father just months apart. Other than my daughter, I have no family support. The part of my family that I loved are gone. The ones who are left, I wish were gone. They treated me with cruelty when my husband died. Came for the service, left right away for home, which was on the other side of the country. Never once did my sisters call me to see how I am doing since my husband died. I have no family, but my daughter. If it wasn’t for my daughter, there is no doubt in my mind that I would have committed suicide. If not for her, there is absolutely nothing on this earth that I care about. It is that simple.
